There are several Teacher Training Institutes (TTIs) in Sri Lanka that are responsible for training people to become teachers. These institutes play a key role in preparing educators to work in schools and contribute to Sri Lanka's education system. Please note that the information provided here is based on my knowledge as of September 2021 and may have changed or changed since then. Here are some important TTIs in Sri Lanka:

1.National Institute of Education (NIE): The National Institute of Education is the premier teacher training institute in Sri Lanka. It offers a wide range of programs for aspiring teachers, including bachelor's or diploma courses in education. The NIE is responsible for curriculum development and teacher training in the country.

2.National Colleges of Education (NCOE): NCOEs are institutions that provide specialized training for primary and secondary teachers. They offer the Teaching Diploma Program, a teacher preparation program that prepares people for teaching positions in schools.

3.Provincial Teacher Training Colleges:  Each province in Sri Lanka may have its own teacher training colleges. These colleges provide teacher education programs and play a vital role in producing teachers for the local education system.

4. Private Teacher Training Institutes: In addition to government-run institutions, there are also private teacher training institutes in Sri Lanka. These institutes offer different teacher training programs and their offerings may vary.

5.University Teacher Training Programs: Several universities in Sri Lanka offer undergraduate and postgraduate programs in the field of education. These programs are designed to prepare people for a teaching career and often include practical teaching experiences in schools.

6.Teacher Development: In addition to professional development of teachers, Sri Lanka also organizes professional development programs for existing teachers to improve their skills and knowledge. Specific entry requirements, programs and procedures for teacher training institutes in Sri Lanka may vary. Therefore, individuals interested in pursuing a teaching career should contact relevant institutions or visit their official websites for the most up-to-date information. Additionally, it is advisable to check with the Sri Lanka Ministry of Education for any recent changes or developments in teacher training programs and institutes.
